Suno, the widely-used music generation platform just released its first mobile application for iPhone users located in the United States. This significant milestone for the company comes after attracting 12 million users to its web-based platform.
The app allows users to create songs from text prompts and even turn audio recordings into full tracks. Additionally, users have access to a vast library of AI-created music, expanding their creative possibilities.
Suno's CEO, Mikey Shulman, expressed excitement about the launch, stating that the app will be in users' pockets whenever inspiration strikes.
Although the iOS app is currently only available in the U.S., Suno plans to expand its availability to other territories and also develop an Android version in the future. This ensures that a broader audience can benefit from the app's features.
Suno's app offers a range of features with which users can create songs in various styles and genres. The app's functionality goes beyond simply generating instrumentals. It offers the option to create full songs complete with lyrics and vocals, allowing users to express their creativity fully.
Legal Challenges Faced by Suno in the Music Industry
The rapid growth of Suno has not come without challenges, as major record labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group have recently filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the company. The labels claim that Suno used copyrighted recordings to train its AI models without permission.
However, Suno defended its practices by stating that its technology creates entirely original outputs instead of copying current content.
Subscription Plans and Monetization Strategy
Suno now provides a basic free plan that offers 50 free credits per day. Users who require additional features and benefits can opt for the Pro and Premier plans, available via in-app purchases.
The Pro plan is priced at $10 per month, billed monthly, while the Premier plan costs $30 per month, also billed monthly.
