YouTube Music, the popular music streaming platform, has recently introduced two new features aimed at enhancing song discovery for its users.
The first feature is a sound search tool that allows users to search for songs by using natural sounds, such as humming or singing. The second feature is an AI-generated conversational radio, which creates custom radio stations based on user preferences and requests.
YouTube Music's Sound Search Tool
The sound search tool in YouTube Music allows users to search for songs by simply tapping the search button. By tapping the waveform icon next to the magnifying glass icon, users can sing, hum, or play a song on another instrument to find the desired track.
The tool leverages YouTube Music's vast catalog of over 100 million official songs to recognize the sound and provide accurate results. With the sound search tool, users can easily discover songs even when they don't know the title or artist.
AI-Generated Conversational Radio Feature
YouTube Music's AI-generated conversational radio feature is being rolled out to select US Premium users. With this feature, users can create custom radio stations by describing the type of music they want to hear conversationally.
For example, users can ask for "catchy pop choruses" or "upbeat pop anthems," and the AI algorithm will generate a tailor-made radio station based on their request.
To access the AI-generated conversational radio feature in YouTube Music, users will see a "Ask for music any way you like" card in the app's home feed. Clicking on the card opens a conversational UI where users can enter a custom prompt or select a suggested one.
YouTube Music's new features align with the current trend of AI-driven playlist-generation tools in the music streaming industry.
Similar AI playlist tools have been introduced by other platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer, each offering users the ability to generate personalized playlists based on written prompts.
